  • Clinton Finlay has over 11 years of experience working as a Physiotherapist in multidisciplinary rehab settings. During this time, he has found a love and niche in treating clients with neurological conditions as well as amputees.

He now wants to translate that knowledge and experience by creating Brainwaves. His main aim is to grow and offer Newcastle a range of allied health service to support our local community.

  • Brainwaves Occupational Therapy Consultant

I am passionate about empowering individuals to achieve the best version of their health and well-being. Looking at my journey, I developed a keen interest in neurological rehabilitation over the past 18 years working in the community public and private sectors, providing allied health services to support individuals’ return to function. It has been my intention to have a wide range of experience focusing on neurological therapy for the past 10 years. I have worked with several different diagnostic backgrounds, including:

    • Acquired or traumatic brain injury (ABI/TBI)

    • Stroke or TIA

    • Multiple sclerosis

    • Parkinson’s Disease

    • Degenerative Neurological disorders

    • Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS)

    • Functional neurological disorder

    • Genetic neurological disorder

    • Others

I developed a specialty within neurological and acquired brain injury community rehabilitation while working for a private clinic. Within this role, I was trained in constraint-induced movement. My fields of experience also includes assisting in developing robotic upper limb rehabilitation protocols for severe neurological patients. I now dedicate my professional experience to helping clients in private practice.

My commitment is to provide evidence-based clinical practice in neurological rehabilitation services to clients and families in the community. I am always excited about ensuring clients build confidence in participating in meaningful activities in a safe and supportive environment.

I have developed great empathy and compassion through working within the health field in different cultures. Being raised with solid values and respect for human rights, I developed advanced language and communication skills while working overseas and in Australia. In my personal life. I volunteer in community-based projects which support vulnerable individuals in Australia and overseas. I am a passionate dancer with roots in my South American heritage, and I enjoy music in all its forms.
